On Friday, October 18th 2019, please join Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation (GWPF) in celebrating our 6th Walk To End FGM.
It is estimated that over a half million women and girls are at risk for or have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM) here in the United States. We will be celebrating and honoring individuals who have worked tirelessly on prevention, protection, education, and care.
Guests will arrive at 6:00pm for registration, light fare, and participation in a silent auction. The event will commence at 6:30pm, followed by the keynote address. The education and awards ceremony will follow, and the evening will conclude at 9:30pm with closing remarks from our respected event coordinators.
On Saturday, October 19th 2019 the pre-walk program will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by the actual walk at 1:30pm. We will begin the 5K Walk from the National Sylvan Theater located at Washington Memorial Driveway, SW, Washington, D.C. 20024, the corner of 15th and Jefferson Streets, SW.
The National Sylvan Theater is a wooden stage right in front of the Washington Monument. The 5K Walk will continue to Constitution Avenue and on to the Lincoln Memorial, passing the various memorials and back to the National Sylvan Theater. We will end the walk back at the theater.
