The 5K route will start and finish in Genesee River Valley Park, close to the roundhouse shelter. The route follows the Genesee river along the University of Rochester Undergraduate river campus, crosses the pedestrian bridge near the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and returns along the Genesee Riverway trail, past the Staybridge Suites Hotel, back to the Genesee River Valley Park.
