3. What Does Pledging to the Walk Mean, Exactly?
T. E. A. R. S. is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization that runs solely on support from our wonderful volunteers. The work we do is made possible through generous donations.

Since September 2010 TEARS has directly saved well over 1,550 dogs and cats from euthanasia, and has indirectly helped thousands more by providing aid to the county facility we work with.  Unlike traditional rescue groups, we work in tandem with our county facility, Seminole County Animal Services, a kill shelter, to aid and place dogs and cats that are housed there.  While we do not have to bear the expensive burden of care for all of the animals directly, any money we raise goes directly to help animals that the county would traditionally euthanize.  The aid we provide is vital since our county shelter must take in every animal, both stray and owner surrender and the shelter does not have an in-house veterinary clinic.  Our group provides medical care and supplies for animals that the shelter, bound by county guidelines, might traditionally euthanize, such as those with treatable medical issues, minor behavioral issues and older animals.  The help we provide has contributed to a 25% reduction in their euthanization numbers so far and promises to reduce these numbers further as we grow.  We are the only group providing care to the most difficult medical and behavioral cases that come to the shelter.  We work tirelessly to provide these deserving, often abandoned, loving animals the medical care they need so they can have a second chance at life in carefully screened forever homes.

By committing to this event, and pledging to raise money for its success, you are helping raise invaluable funds to enhance the quality of life for the homeless animals we work with.  We would like to personally thank you for your generosity and love for the animals. T.E.A.R.S. could not do what it does without people like you!

4. How can my sponsors submit payment?
Online contributions can be made by credit card on the walker’s personalized page found on our website. Just make sure to tell your sponsors to select your name from the list of walkers.

5. I am concerned that I might not be able to raise the required funds. Will I be able to do it?
Even if you've never raised money before, our materials and strategies will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others. Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but enjoyable, to set and reach your goals. Please refer to the sample letters found on your personal fundraising page center, that explains the programs the Walk supports, and you will be surprised to see how quickly friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your request to help this wonderful cause. Just remember to make it personal as well, as you want them to know that they are sponsoring YOU, and YOUR efforts! And, as many companies offer charitable donation matching programs, make sure to ask your sponsors to check with their employers, as it will help you meet your goal ever more quickly.

6. Is there a refund/exchange policy?
Yes. If a donation was made accidentally or for the wrong amount, simply make us aware of the issue and we will be happy to make any necessary refunds, changes or corrections. Walk registration fees are not refundable.

7. Is parking available?
For additional parking, please park anywhere along E. Seminole Blvd or E. 1st Street. Please allow sufficient time for parking and registration.
