MY STORY
This November 14th is the annual HAVEN Free Clinic 5K! HAVEN has been and continues to be such an important cause that I'm RUNNING FOR FUN (sos).

This past summer, I started working as HAVEN's Reproductive/Sexual Health Department (RHD) Co-Director - overseeing a department that provides not only free and necessary preventative/screening, diagnostic and treatment services to folks without health insurance in New Haven, but also provides essential education for future healthcare providers in evidence-based and trauma-informed care practices. In RHD, we provide annual pap tests and breast exams, HIV/STI counseling and testing, sick visits related to reproductive health (such as chronic pelvic pain) and free contraceptive options (ranging from the pill to IUDs to injection contraceptive known as Depo-Provera).

More than anything, this position has reinforced that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Universal healthcare is a necessity.

Please join me in donating to HAVEN, so we can continue to provide free care for folks without health insurance in the New Haven area.

If monetary donations are not within your budget, shoot me a text making fun of my lack of running abilities - I'll need all the encouragement I can get

RAISING MONEY FOR...
All proceeds from this event will support HAVEN Free Clinic, a non-profit organization that partners with Yale University to provide comprehensive primary care services to members of the New Haven community free-of-charge.

We are a student-run clinic that has provided comprehensive primary care at no cost to uninsured patients in New Haven for the past 16 years. In 2019 alone, we cared for over 650 of our community members. The annual 5K race, our signature fundraising event, typically raises 70% of our total annual departmental budget.
