Even if you've never raised money before, our materials and strategies will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others. Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but enjoyable, to set and reach your goals. Please refer to the sample letters found on your personal fundraising page center, that explains the programs the sleep-out supports, and you will be surprised to see how quickly friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your request to help this wonderful cause. Just remember to make it personal as well, as you want them to know that they are sponsoring YOU and YOUR efforts! And, as many companies offer charitable donation matching programs, make sure to ask your sponsors to check with their employers, as it will help you meet your goal ever more quickly.

6. Is the Sleep-Out  only for those who can attend on September 13th?
No! The Sleep-Out is designed to be a fun way for you to spend an evening under the stars with your family while raising community awareness around homelessness in Adams County and raising funds to help Cold Weather Care serve those in need. If you cannot attend, we encourage you to register online to Sleep Out at home, raise funds, and share your photos on our Facebook page during the event.

Either! Participants can sleep-out  alone or create a team to participate. The rate for participation remains the same either  way, and whether you come with a group or on your own we’re sure you’ll meet lots of new folks and enjoy a wide array of fun activities that raise your awareness of homelessness as we show the community what can be done to help.

8. I have never done something like a sleep-out. What should I know?
Well, you are not alone! Lot of our participants will be doing it for the first time as well!  It will be a great, fun experience!   We will have security staff on site for insure safety, inspiring speakers that will shed light on homelessness in a unique and interactive way, fun activities throughout the evening, and a team of volunteers to help with any of your questions and needs throughout the event.  We’re excited to help make your Sleep Out experience fun and memorable!

You can help by dressing appropriately and bringing the right equipment.

Dress for the Weather
Mid September... it might be hot... it might be cold.  Who knows!  Most likely it will be warm until sun-down, and cool in the middle of the night.  Dress appropriately, bring layers, and something waterproof.  We will be posting weather updates as we get closer.

Bring the Right Supplies
You’ll want some place to sleep, so think about bringing:
  • A tent, or
  • Cardboard, packing tape and box cutter (no duct tape or paint, please)
  • Blankets, pillows, and/or sleeping bags
  • Flashlight
  • Games and books
  • Snacks
  • Water bottle
Quite a few folks will simply sleep under the stars... which is absolutely great as well.  Whatever you are most comfortable with.  Again, shoot us a note if you have any questions.

Don’t Forget to Clean Up.
Please follow the camping rule:  Pack out what you pack in.  Clean up after yourself, and pick up a piece of trash when you see it.  :-)

Stay Safe & Warm
You’ll feel safe spending the night outdoors because we have security on site throughout the event. There will be ample bathrooms available, and options for inclimate weather.

9. Is there a refund/exchange policy?
Yes. If a donation was made accidentally or for the wrong amount, simply make us aware of the issue and we will be happy to make any necessary refunds, changes or corrections. Participant Race registration fees are not refundable.

10. Is parking available?
Yes.  Ample parking will be available at Northern Hills Church.
