On June 22, 2014 we lost our daughter Finnley Elizabeth Jaramillo to an umbilical cord accident during labor. She was full term at 41.5 weeks & otherwise healthy. Tragically she was born still. What we think is an extremely rare occurence in this modern day, happens far more often than doctors like to admit. There still isn't a lot of research being done to learn about why such tragedies still occur in large numers each year in the U.S. There also tends to be a silence surrounding them. A silence which is deafening to the parents trying to survive & understand the loss of their child.  We have spent the months following the loss of our daughter researching Stillbirth & have found that there aren't many organizations dedicated to finding answers. We came across the Star Legacy Foundation which is solely dedicated to Stillbirth research, education, & awareness.  This organization has provided us with helpful information to better understand our loss, and has provided us with resources to handle our grief.
