About Us
The Leeba Gavriella Fund is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which seeks to provide the weakest members of society with some of life’s necessities. The Fund has a wide array of charitable initiatives which serve a broad spectrum of needy individuals both in Israel and the US. Our principal efforts are focused on children from disadvantaged economic backgrounds.
Thus our four flagship projects are:
1) Yom Tov Aid for Single Parent families: Women in close-knit religious communities who have the courage to end abusive and dysfunctional marriages are often tragically ostracized by the very communities that should embrace them. These women bear the full brunt of supporting their often large families without access to the support network enjoyed by the mainstream community. The Leeba Fund will provide food vouchers of $200 for up to two hundred such families twice a year during the holidays to help alleviate their poverty and loneliness. A gift of $1000 will bring joy and comfort to five needy families this Passover.
2) Coats for Cold Kids: We distribute thousands of warm new winter coats to poor children throughout Israel. These are children who come from families who literally lack the ability to buy them a coat. For a mere $18, we can provide a child with a very high quality coat that will keep him warm through the winter and give him/her the sense of dignity that most of us take for granted. A gift of $1800 will keep 100 kids warm. How often do you get the chance to do so much for so many for so little?
3) Vouchers for Orphans and Needy Adolescents: We provide vouchers for teenage orphans and other teens from broken homes to purchase clothing and other basic necessities. What is unique about these vouchers is that, rather than receiving their clothing in a humiliating fashion from second hand shops or surplus donations, it enables these kids to go to the same popular stores as their peers shop in and experience the same sense of pride and independence as their more fortunate friends. In addition, we have negotiated special discounts in many popular stores to enhance their purchasing power. The vouchers are for a value of $200. A gift of $2000 will provide 10 teenagers with the joy and self-esteem that come with finally having a little of what all their friends have always had.
4) Smiles for Brides: Thousands of young Israeli couples begin their lives together in abject poverty, without being able to afford even the barest necessities to build a modest home together. The Leeba Fund provides a wedding grant to these couples to enable them to buy five essential items: Beds, kitchen supplies, linen, an oven and a refrigerator. The cost of giving our children this modest but incredibly important and heartwarming start is $3000. We have, as with all our projects, negotiated significant discounts with vendors to enhance the purchasing power of your gift.
