Hello! My name is Saige Hill, and I'm a third-year PhD student in the Public Administration and Policy program at Old Dominion University. This is my first year as a Bill Anderson Fund Fellow, and I am so excited to be a part of the William Averette (Bill) Anderson Fund 2021 Virtual Disaster Dash 5K!
The Bill Anderson Fund addresses disaster disparities. It is a "charitable organization, mitigating disasters through fellowship, mentorship, and research for minority communities." the Disaster Dash 5K helps us to continue supporting fellows through the program and engage in life-saving hazard and disaster research. Please join my team, the ODU Dashers, or donate to help us raise money for this important cause!
The 2021 7th Annual BAF Disaster Dash will be held in concurrence with the 46th Annual Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop, an event with international attendance that will be hosted *virtually* July 11-14 by the University of Colorado Boulder Natural Hazards Center.
Proceeds from the event will support the Bill Anderson Fund mission to expand the number of professionals from historically underrepresented groups in the fields of hazards and disaster research and practice. Funds raised during this event ensure the delivery of robust programming for our Fellows and Alumni. Join us in July and run or walk where you are to send a clear message on the vital need for additional representation in our field.
