MY STORY
I first met Bill 15 years ago the first time I attended the Natural Hazards Workshop in Colorado. Bill and I quickly became kindred spirits and often discussed how few of the participants looked like me (Latina) or him (Black). We discussed ways in which we could increase the number of underrepresented minorities in our professional realm. Bill left us too early, but I am grateful that his passion for improving representation of minority scholars in the field of disaster science lives on in the Bill Anderson Fund (BAF). The BAF has made a significant difference in increasing the representation of minority scholars in our field. I could not be more PROUD of all the Bill Anderson Fellows and alums.

For those of you who know me well, you know that I am not much of an athlete or early morning person. However, I enthusiastically adopt both characteristics to support the BAF's Disaster Dash every year. Please help me raise money for this critical program, and support me in the 2023 Annual Disaster Dash 5K. Money raised from this event will be used to promote and support hazard and disaster mitigation for communities of color and other vulnerable populations.

Please help by sponsoring me or another Disaster Dash participant.

RAISING MONEY FOR...
The 2023 9th Annual BAF Disaster Dash will be held in concurrence with the 48th Annual Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop, an event with international attendance that will be hosted July 9-12 by the University of Colorado Boulder Natural Hazards Center.

Proceeds from the event will support the Bill Anderson Fund mission to expand the number of professionals from historically underrepresented groups in the fields of hazards and disaster research and practice. Funds raised during this event ensure the delivery of robust programming for our Fellows and Alumni. Join us in July and run or walk where you are to send a clear message on the vital need for additional representation in our field.
