I am so excited to be participating in the annual Disaster Dash 5K. Money raised from this event will expand inclusive hazard and disaster planning for communities of color and increase diversity among professionals in the hazards and disaster field.
Bill Anderson was one of my mentors; Norma Anderson remains an inspiration and guide in my life. The Bill Anderson Fund has helped to transform the field of hazards mitigation and disaster research. The 2023 9th Annual BAF Disaster Dash will be held in concurrence with the 48th Annual Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop, an event with international attendance that will be hosted July 9-12 by the University of Colorado Boulder Natural Hazards Center.
Proceeds from the event will support the Bill Anderson Fund mission to expand the number of professionals from historically underrepresented groups in the fields of hazards and disaster research and practice. Funds raised during this event ensure the delivery of robust programming for our Fellows and Alumni. Join us in July and run or walk where you are to send a clear message on the vital need for additional representation in our field.
