MY STORY
Ben is a loving husband and father to two from West Fargo, ND. Ben’s brain cancer journey began on May 21, 2022. He was certain he had a seizure during the night, so as a precautionary, his wife Steph took him to the local ER to be evaluated. What started as a joke of Steph thinking the worse, quickly became their reality. Ben was hospitalized and diagnosed with a very large brain tumor. He underwent a tumor resection in July 2022 in Rochester, MN where it was determined he had a Grade 3 Malignant Anaplastic Astrocytoma. He was able to return home after a few weeks of rehabilitation to complete radiation and begin chemotherapy. Ben currently has one more round of chemo scheduled and undergoes MRIs every 3 months to monitor the remaining tumor. Through this journey, he has remained positive and optimistic. He has shown so much strength, determination, and courage to those around him and has remained a constant in Steph, Aubrie, and Jacks lives. Even on the tough days, he always finds something to be grateful for and doesn’t let this diagnosis define him.

We are so excited to participate in the 2023 MN Brain Tumor 5K! Money raised from this event will be used for brain tumor research.

Today nearly 700,000 people in the United States are living with a primary brain tumor, and more than 69,000 others will be diagnosed this year. Brain tumors are often deadly, impact quality of life, and change everything for patients and their loved ones.
