MY STORY
This cause is near and dear to our hearts as brain tumors/cancer has greatly impacted our lives.  In 2005, our mother/wife/sister/aunt/friend, Karen Schultz, was diagnosed with a grade 3 Astrocytoma (a type of brain cancer). Following surgery and treatment, we were blessed with a little over 10 years of brain cancer freedom. In 2016, we learned that brain cancer had returned. Karen was diagnosed with a grade 4 Glioblastoma (a more advanced type of brain cancer). She underwent her second brain surgery and round of available treatment. In late 2018, brain cancer made it's third return and spread to inoperable areas of her brain.

Karen is not alone in journeying with brain tumors. Today nearly 700,000 people in the United States are living with a primary brain tumor, and more than 69,000 others will be diagnosed this year. Brain tumors are often deadly, impact quality of life, and change everything for patients and their loved ones. We are confident in saying that without medical advances identified through brain tumor research, she would not be here with us today.

We excited to have the opportunity to participate in the MN Brain Tumor 5K! We would love to have you join our team and walk with us to find a CURE for brain tumors. We are also grateful for any prayers or fiscal donations you would like to make. Thank you for your support!
