My world changed in 2011 when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After a few years of close monitoring my medical team decided to take action. In 2014 I started a journey with the love and support of my family and friends.
I had an incredibly talented team of doctors and a brilliant surgeon in my corner at Mayo Clinc. After an awake craniotomy, targeted radiation and 6 months of chemotherapy; I was able to stop brain tumor treatment and start living a "normal" life again.
Since then I have had clean scans and have been tumor free for 9 years!
Unfortunately, many people did not have the happy ending I was blessed with. Almost 700,000 people in the US are living with a brain tumor, and more than 69,000 others will be diagnosed this year.
Let's remember those we have lost, celebrate those who have survived, and support those who are fighting.
