MY STORY
I am so excited to participate in the MN Brain Tumor 5K! Money raised from this event will be used for brain tumor research.

Today nearly 700,000 people in the United States are living with a primary brain tumor, and more than 69,000 others will be diagnosed this year. Brain tumors are often deadly, impact quality of life, and change everything for patients and their loved ones.

This is a cause close to my heart, as I have had two loved ones whose lives have been affected by brain tumors.

In July 2014, we found out my husband Adam had a golfball-sized acoustic neuroma on his right auditory nerve and it was starting to press against his brain. Within days, he was scheduled to have brain surgery to have the tumor removed. Thankfully the tumor was benign and only took the hearing in his right ear, but it was ad long road to recovery and had a huge impact on our family.

In July 2018, we found out my stepdad Bill had a very large glioblastoma in his right frontal lobe. He had total mass removal, radiation, and chemotherapy. We are still on the journey and taking things one day at a time. Bill's cancer has been in remission for almost 4 years.

On February 7, 2022, during one of Bill's three-month MRIs, we were told his cancer had returned. Bill had laser surgery on March 17th. Last week he began radiation and will start infusion therapy in mid-May.
