My Sisu warrior was my best friend Kylene. She was stronger than brain cancer, though her body on the other hand was not.
I met Kylene over 20 years ago during my first year of college. Our friendship was unique and such a blessing.
We continuously enjoyed playing through life and making fun where fun didn’t come naturally. She helped me uncover how life is truly meant to be lived and I get reminders and glimpses of her playfulness still even though it will be two years this September since she died.
She reminds me daily with little messages or nudges that she is still around and that life is an endless roller coaster that you cannot always get off of. So be present and enjoy the ride.
I am running this 5k in celebration of her life and because I want to run with her again, because I know she will be running right along side me like we did when we ran grandmas half marathon together when we celebrated her one year brain cancer recovery in 2014.
I cannot bring her back but I can raise awareness and money for brain cancer research in hopes that someone else can sit twenty plus years later with their best friend still enjoying laughter and mischief together and living life out loud. I don’t want brain cancer to steal anyone else’s best friend, wife, husband, mother, father, daughter, son or child. If you cannot donate monetarily that is ok, but I ask you to please pray over binding and casting out the existence of brain cancer and all cancers in the name of Jesus! This is my prayer. Please join me in this if you are able. Thank you so much!
