A Message Regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus) from the MN Brain Tumor 5K Planning Committee
The health and safety of our participants, volunteers and sponsors is our highest priority. As such, we have been closely following updates about COVID-19 (coronavirus) in order to determine the most responsible way to move forward with this year’s event.
After careful thought, and in recognition of CDC recommendations warning against mass gatherings, the MN Brain Tumor 5K will be converting to a virtual event. So, although there will not be an in-person 5k walk/run, the fundraising for brain tumor research will go on! And don’t worry ̶ so will the fun! We are dedicated to providing engaging content and fundraising activities leading up to and during the virtual event.
Then, on Sunday, June 14, we will all walk, run and honor all those effected by a brain tumor from wherever we may be. Whether it be a jog around your neighborhood, a walk at a local park, or even a cool 20 minutes on your treadmill. Maybe you want to honor the day over lunch or at a small gathering. This year it’s the MN Brain Tumor 5K ̶ your way!
So what’s next?
First, keep fundraising! Secondly, remember that despite these temporary adjustments, our commitment to put 100% of proceeds directly toward brain tumor research stays the same. While you do that, we'll be busy at work revamping the MN Brain Tumor 5K for the virtual format. Trust us, cool things are on the way!
In the meantime, we ask for your patience as we make the changes necessary to make this year’s event, although a little different, one of the best and most successful yet. Yes, our goal is still $125,000. And if past years have shown us anything, it's that you are all up for the challenge.
Watch for more information and virtual event details coming in mid-April. Until then, be well, stay safe and continue to support one another during these trying times.
