Volunteers Roles for the 5K
 
We thank you for all of your help! For volunteering, you'll get a free t-shirt and refreshments the day of the 5K. You'll also get the satisfaction of helping out a great cause!  Please send us an email at info@mnbraintumor5k.com if you have any further questions about these roles.  To become a volunteer simply click on the blue "Register to Volunteer" button on the home page to get started.
 
Off-site Parking (Shuttle Location), 6:30 AM - 9:45 AM, 4 volunteers needed
 
Description: Pick up parking signs at the Phalen pavilion, drive to shuttle location. Position signs at the shuttle location for maximum viewing by passing traffic. Stand near signs as needed (make sure they stay standing), get people's attention and answer questions on the 5K potentially. Assist folks near the shuttle bus, direct the shuttle bus drivers as needed and make sure bus drivers don't leave without a full bus. Gather signs, bring back to the park.
 
Water Station, 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM, 6 volunteers needed
 
Description: Pickup (from the pavilion) and setup supplies at the designated water station(s) location. Pour water into cups, offer water to runners/walkers. Setup garbage bins shortly after stop for participants to throw away their cups. Take pictures of participants and post to Instagram with hashtag #MNBT5K.  Clean-up everything and bring back supplies to the pavilion.
 
Participant Registration (includes setup & take-down), 6:30 AM - 9:45 AM, 3 volunteers needed
 
Description: Assist the setup crew with moving registration related tables for optimal placement and help get them ready for the day. Become familiar with registration procedures as per the Registration Director's instructions. Technology devices may be used as part of registration so volunteers should be somewhat tech savy. If you would like to also participate in the event, this is a good option.
 
Participant Check-In (includes setup & take-down), 6:30 AM - 9:45 AM, 20 volunteers needed
 
Description: Assist the setup crew with moving check-in related tables for optimal placement and help get them ready for the day. Become familiar with check-in procedures as per the Check-In Coordinator's instructions. Check-in registrants, hand out t-shirts. If you would like to also participate in the event, this is a good option.
 
On-site Parking & Refreshments Setup, 7:30 AM - 9:45 AM, 4 volunteers needed
 
Description: There are various parking lots at Phalen. We need to have volunteers at a few of the lots of help give directional help. Let them know where they can/can't park, offer advice, hand out maps to the shuttle location and possibly give some driving directions.  Volunteers in the main lot will assist with saving spots for VIP guests/vendors.
 
Park Directional Guides, 7:30 AM - 9:45 AM, 6 volunteers needed (will stand in groups of two)
 
Description: Stand near 3 park entrances, near signs and get people's attention, provide parking information, hand out a map to the shuttle location and answer misc. questions. Maryland entrance, Arcade entrance and inner park entrance. Perfect to do with a partner/friend as we like to have two groups of 2!
 
Course Marshall, 7:45 AM - 9:45 AM, 4 volunteers needed
 
Description: Go to designated area around the lake to help direct participants. Cheer on participants and contact EMS on-site if any situations come up that require emergency assistance.  Perfect to do with a partner/friend as we like to have two groups of 2!
