Seven years and counting! I'm excited to be participating in this walk once again.
This year I am walking in honor of teenage activists, including Greta Thunberg and Emma Gonzalez who are bravely speaking out on important issues like climate change and gun control. These young ladies are sacrificing so much for ensuring that policy changes happen on issues that affect all of us. They are inspiring other young people to disrupt the status quo and to stand up for justice and peace. Our voices and actions are the most powerful tools for influencing change in our communities. Let us never take for granted the liberty to think independently and use our voices and actions to be the change we want to see in the world.
Money raised for this walk will support Camp Sojourner, a nonprofit leadership program for Philadelphia girls ages 8-16, which offers year-round leadership development including mentoring, service projects, creative arts, nature hikes, college tours, and a one-week overnight camp (girlsleadershipcamp.org
Camp Sojourner, Girls’ Leadership Camp helps Philadelphia girls, regardless of their economic background, have the opportunity to take charge of their own lives and be agents of positive change in their communities. All programs are offered on a sliding scale, with significant scholarships.
