Last year, even before we were able to put together our Website, Hurricane Sandy struck with a vengeance, devastating many areas of the Northeast Coast. As residents of New York, we wanted to do something to help, and so we used telephone, e-mail, and personal solicitation to raise $56,200. In keeping with our pledge to, wherever possible, give 100% of monies raised to those in need, 33 families seriously harmed by Hurricane Sandy were almost immediately given financial assistance, in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $4,000, and totaling $56,200. No operating costs were taken from these funds.
The LEEBA GAVRIELLA FUND FOR THE NEEDY stands ready to mobilize again for any future natural or man-made disasters to immediately seek and distribute funds for those injured, maimed, or killed by such catastrophes as storms, tornadoes, earthquakes, accidents, terrorist acts, etc.
We hope that such events will be few and far between, but we want to assure the public that we will react immediately and quickly to such events, with the goal of providing succor and help without a lot of red tape and beaurocratic snafus, and without draining off major percentages of donated funds for administrative "costs."
