I am very excited to be participating in the Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington 3nd Annual MitzvahCycle Bike-a-thon together with my teammates Hillel Weiss, and Paul Berner. Money raised from this event will be used for the BCGW services in order to care for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the ill, the elderly and their caregivers in the Jewish community. BCGW supports and maintains kosher pantries at area hospitals, operates the Bernard Creeger Bikur Cholim House (a home of hope and healing for patients and their family members) in Bethesda MD across the street from the National Institutes of Health, and provides ongoing community education to promote awareness of the Jewish value of Bikur Cholim (visiting and caring for the sick).
As a regular BCGW volunteer, I have seen first hand how much this support is needed and appreciated. Our patients are not only local people. Adults and children from all over the US as well as many from Israel come to the NIH Clinical Center and other hospitals to obtain care for very critical medical conditions. All services are provided without charge to the recipient. For a sample of how much this assistance is needed and appreciated, please view this video testimonial (in Hebrew): https://youtu.be/KK5msKwdslA
Please help by sponsoring our team.
Route Note: Hillel and I will take a 36+ mile route along the historic C&O Canal again, starting two miles below Whites Ferry (at mile 34) cycling upstream past Point of Rocks to the Cactoctin Aqueduct (mile 52) We will then ride back to out starting point and drive from there to Riley's Lock to the MitzvahCycle gathering point.
