TEAM STORY
On February 20th 2015, Amanda and Mark had a beautiful baby girl named Jane Elizabeth. She was born still at 38 weeks gestation due to blood clots in Amanda's placenta.  After two healthy and successful pregnancies and one miscarriage due to a genetic abnormality, their Doctor's had no reason to believe that Amanda was high risk.

Jane was a perfect little baby girl and her death was so very sad and tragic.  Amanda and Mark hope that nobody ever has to experience something like this.  But they will unless we can do more to research into why this happens and begin to change the standard of care to prevent stillbirth.

After picking up the pieces, Amanda and Mark decided to do something with their grief and loss. They began to educate themselves about stillbirth. How underfunded the research is, how poor the awareness is, and how PREVALENT it is. With their support group friends, who are truly an amazing group of people, they started a NY Metro chapter of The Star Legacy Foundation.  A charity that is dedicated to stillbirth research and awareness - the only one of it's kind in the US.

Stillbirth is an uncomfortable topic for many people - how can someone die before they even had a chance to live?  Amanda and Mark want to change that because they know many people are suffering in silence. Stillbirth affects 1 in 160 pregnancies in the US meaning 26,000 babies die every year.  Due to lack of research, many people have no idea why they lost their baby, and Star Legacy is working very hard to change that.
