3. What Does Pledging to the Ride Mean, Exactly?
By committing to this event, and pledging to raise money for its success, you are helping raise invaluable funds to enhance the quality of life for individuals on the path to recovery from alcohol and drug abuse and from problem gambling.
We are dedicated to this population and all proceeds raised from the Ride will support the numerous programs we currently offer. With your help we can make a difference and assist those in our community to live sober, productive, and healthy lives.
We wish you all the success possible. Train, set and achieve new goals, enjoy the ride… and get all the sponsors you can, so when you finish your ride, we will all be winners – you, and all the people recovering from substance abuse in our community! Riders who raise $100 in sponsorship funds will receive a free t-shirt!
4. How can my sponsors submit payment?
Online contributions can be made by credit card on the rider's personalized page found on this website. Just make sure to tell your sponsors to select your name from the list of riders.
Any funds collected and not made online can be turned in on the day of the event.
5. I am concerned that I might not be able to raise funds. Will I be able to do it?
Even if you've never raised money before, our materials and strategies will make it easy for you to solicit and collect pledges from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others. Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but enjoyable, to set and reach your goals. Please refer to the sample letters found on your personal fundraising page center, that explains the programs the Ride supports, and you will be surprised to see how quickly friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your request to help this wonderful cause. Just remember to make it personal as well, as you want them to know that they are sponsoring YOU and YOUR efforts! And, as many companies offer charitable donation matching programs, make sure to ask your sponsors to check with their employers, as it will help you meet your goal ever more quickly.
And don't forget, you will receive a free t-shirt if you raise $100 in sponsorships!
6. Is the Ride only for Cyclists?
The Ride is designed as a day of fun and fitness for the whole family. It attracts many riders from across the state, but it is also attended by family members and friends and supporters from the community who look forward to it as a fun and exciting community gathering.
We encourage people to ride in celebration of those who have successfully completed treatment; in support of those currently in treatment; and in memory of friends, family or fellow students who have been lost to an overdose.
7. Do You Ride Alone or as a Team?
Either! Participants can ride alone or create their own team. The route winds through beautiful and scenic Geauga County on a fairly flat course with some hills.
8. I have never participated in a cycling event. Will I be able to finish a short or long route?
Absolutely! It might take a little training and coaching, but many of our participants are first-timer riders. Whether you are a novice, signed up for 15-mile ride, or a serious athlete riding our 30 mile route, we will be here to inspire you every step of the way
Our hope is to inspire you to achieve ultimate “personal wellness” and, at the same time, participate in a family friendly cycling event that will allow you to spend meaningful time together with family and friends.
9. Is there a refund/exchange policy?
Yes. If a donation was made accidentally or for the wrong amount, simply make us aware of the issue and we will be happy to make any necessary refunds, changes or corrections. Race registration fees are not refundable.
