MY STORY
Did you ever stop and take a moment to think about all the wonderful things your mother does … and especially about the things she does for you? Did you ever thank her for when you walked in and smelled the delicious hot food cooking after a long day? Did you ever realize how lucky you are to have a mother who can sit down and help you with homework?

I dream of this and so much more...

I dream of coming home after school to a mother who greets me at the door with a smile on her face. I dream of Shabbos food that’s prepared by my own mother. I dream of going shopping and relating to my mother in the same way that my friends relate to theirs.
I dream of having my mother back to the way I remember.

At a very young age the word cancer was introduced into my vocabulary. At first I didn’t know what it meant, but I was quick to learn its awful definition, of how cancer can affect the life of people you love the most.

I’ve watched my beautiful mother endure a tremendous amount of pain as she goes through chemotherapy, radiation, and the like. More than anything in the world, I want my Imma to be happy. I want to take away her pain and suffering. I want her to be the Imma that she so desperately wants to be for her kids. It pains me that there’s nothing I can do for my Imma except to daven.

Throughout everything she’s been through, Imma has tried so hard to be there for my siblings and I. Through her pain and tears, she continues to daven for each of us every single day. She davens that we have success on a test, that we have a good day at school, work, yeshiva, and for every other aspect of our lives.

But I no longer come home to the smell of Imma’s cooking. And Imma can’t take me to the mall when I want a new outfit. Imma can’t greet me at the door after a long day. And Imma can’t help me with my homework. Those are things of the past. Those are just things that I now dream of....

Fortunately, The Jewish Caring network has eased our pain by all the support they have given us. From the incredible gift packages, flowers for Shabbos, meals, and birthday gifts, everything that they do shows us that they care. The Jewish Caring Network continues to help Baltimore Jewish families in so many ways; now it's your turn to help US help THEM.

So, yes, I still have my hopes and dreams, but until they become reality, The Jewish Caring Network will be by my family’s side and there are no words to describe my deepest and heartfelt appreciation. Thank you.

sincerely,
Talya Bergman
