MY STORY

We are back!  Sidelined during the Covid, I am proud to be participating again in the Heroes of Hope Race this year in memory of my wife Anna DeAlto Tilles.  Money raised from this event will fund brain tumor and cancer research at UCLA and other Southern California research institutions!

Anna walked in 10th Annual Heroes of Hope Race in November 2017.  She was at that time one year into her battle with brain cancer.  A tumor recurrence was discovered in late November and Anna passed away three months later, in February 2018.  I know she drew inspiration and strength from the large number of supporters, walkers, and survivors that participated in the event back in 2017.
Many of you knew Anna.  Some very well, some less so.  But either way, the experience of having that caring Italian immigrant in your orbit was always a joy.  Anna was a devoted mom, wife, teacher, and keeper of the family flame.  Her 3 children, myself and all of Anna's great circle of friends, colleagues, and family still miss her deeply.  Anna was a more quiet but very effective example of all the best qualities that humankind has to offer.  She spread her personal caring and affection one person at a time.   Anna was a passionate and devoted school teacher for over 30 years at Allesandro Elementary School (located near Dodger Stadium).  Being a school teacher was such a very large part of her life that it is only fitting that the team name be “Team Teacher Anna".

Please help -- in Anna's memory -- by walking or sponsoring me, or Team Teacher Anna.  Thank you.  See you in next month!
