Good Grief's 5K Run and Walk For Hope is a peer to peer fundraising event that helps Good Grief raise both funds and awareness for grieving families after the death of a mom, dad, brother, or sister. Our event features a USATF certified 5K course as well as a 2 Mile fun walk. This event is a fun, family event for all ages and abilities! This event is rain or shine so please plan accordingly.
How can I get involved?
You can… register as an individual or a team, join a team, make a gift in support of a team, make a gift in support an individual, become an Event Supporter, or volunteer to help at the event.
What is the event timeline?
What is the 5K Run course?
Your 3.1 mile course takes you through the beautiful Giralda Farms complex, into the neighboring towns of Madison and Chatham, onto a paved traffic-free pathway, and back home to Giralda Farms. The course is USATF certified and also offers 500 USATF-NJ Grand Prix points. You will enjoy display clocks at each mile and a water station to refresh you along the way. Course marshals will guide you and cheer you on! Our 5K features B-Tag electronic chip timing integrated into your assigned bib number.
What is the 2 Mile Walk course?
This course also takes advantage of the scenic Giralda Farms complex and stays entirely on paved walking paths when outside of the property. Fun and safe for the entire family, with kid friendly activities throughout!
Who can participate in the Kids Dashes?
There is truly something for everyone at this event! All registered kids (runners and walkers) 11 & under are welcome to participate in our Kids Dashes at 11:30. Participants will sprint in friendly competition with their peers up to 100 meters (less for the little ones!).
How can I register?
Register online until midnight on Thursday June 4th.
Can I register onsite?
Yes… but please arrive early! We accept cash and checks on-site. On-site registration will close by 9:45 AM.
What are the registrations fees?
Here are the fees through Thursday, June 4, 2020.
Note: All registration fees increase by $5 on the day of the event.
Is there team registration?
Yes. When you register you will be given the option to create a team, join an existing team, or just register on your own.
Do I get a t-shirt?
Shirts are available to the first 500 registrants, so be sure to sign up early!
Do I have to fundraise?
The Good Grief 5K Run and Walk for Hope is a peer to peer fundraising event. We encourage you to create a personalized fundraising page or a team fundraising page when you register to participate. Your personal page will help you to not only raise funds for Good Grief families, but it can raise awareness for the 1,100 grieving individuals who participate in Good Grief's free programs. It is so easy to direct your friends and family to your page, so they can support you in this great cause! We are grateful for your support!
How do I turn in my donations?
We encourage you to do your peer to peer fundraising online through your personal fundraising page! However, should you choose to collect donations directly, you can bring your gifts and turn them in at the check in table on race day, or mail your donations to: Good Grief, c/o 5K, 38 Elm Street, Morristown, NJ 07960. All checks payable to Good Grief, and please include your name and team's name with any correspondence. Thank you for your support!
Where does the money I raise go?
Good Grief is 100% privately funded and our programs are free to families for as long as they need our support. Funds raised by our 5K Run and Walk for Hope directly support the children and families we serve.
How do I become an Event Supporter?
Are there awards for the 5K?
Yes! Awards will be given to: The top 3 overall men and women and the top 3 men and women in 5 year age categories: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, and 85+
Where is the race? Where do I park?
GPS Address: Dodge Dr. and Madison Ave. (Route 124), Madison, NJ 07940. Once you enter the Giralda Farms complex, you will be directed to parking and the event site by volunteers and/or bright orange signs. If you have family or friends with limited mobility, we have a drop off area closer to the event start line.
Will there be a bag storage service on site?
No, please come prepared with only the gear you need to run/walk.
Are dogs allowed?
No. For the safety of your canine friends and our fellow runners and walkers, dogs are not allowed at this event.
Are strollers, scooters, wagons, etc. allowed?
Yes! For the safety of our fellow runners and walkers, if you are using any "wheeled" transportation, line up towards the rear of the start line. Please walk across the finish line if you have "wheels", and always be aware of other runners and walker toes/feet.

If I can’t make it, will you refund my registration fee?
No. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
