While at Noah's Ark in early May, we noticed many local healthcare heroes stopping in to pick up dinner after their long shifts. We felt a sense of duty to make their jobs easier and less overwhelming given the countless hours they spend to ensure our safety and well being. We figured if we could bring meals to heroes in their workplaces, we might free up even a bit of their downtime after work as well as give them some much needed fuel on the job. We started with a small delivery and received so much gratitude and appreciation right out of the gate. This motivated us to spread the word outside of our own community. We soon started our social media page and word began to spread. Heroes were reaching out for support and we have been so excited to lead such a special mission. This has been an incredibly fulfilling project for both of us.

 

The uncompromising hard work and dedication of front line workers during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic inspired the launch of Hero4Heroes. Doctors, nurses, paramedics, police officers and firefighters have all been working lengthy and exhausting shifts, and it occurred to us that these heroes needed food and other necessities to sustain their efforts around the clock. We knew that food and other supplies were being delivered in larger communities and to larger hospitals,  but saw a great need in our more immediate community for our heroes who needed kosher offerings. With the support of Noah's Ark, who supplied subsidized sandwiches to our cause, we began delivering hero sandwiches and cookies to our own local heroes. Over the past few months, we have delivered an incredible amount of meals to various institutions throughout the NY and NJ area. Last month, we contacted Tanya Zuckerbrot, CEO of F-Factor, who was so inspired by our community impact that she donated hundreds of protein bars to Heros4Heroes. Through the generosity of our partners, and we are always looking for more, we continue to expand our project and look forward to supporting the brave and dedicated front liners for as long  as they need our resources and help.
