I decided I wanted to be part of a change during my gap year. I realized I wanted to make a meaningful, positive impact on the life of others. It turned out to be an experience that not only impacted others, but an experience that made a life lasting impression on myself as a human being .It gives me great satisfaction to know that every person that I have touched will go on to have a positive influence on their circles of influence. 

 

I lived and worked in Emunah Neve Michael children's home for a year with children at risk. I was responsible for both physically and emotionally supporting twelve teenage girls. My year of national service has been incredibly challenging. I spent the year absorbing a language that is not my mother tongue, surrounded by born Israelis. The year has turned out to be such a fulfilling and gratifying experience. I truly learned what it means to put others before myself, and what it takes to provide for someone emotionally and physically in a very substantial way. My fellow B’not Sheirut have become some of my closest friends and the kids I had the privilege of working with have become like family.  Serving my country for the year only solidified my love for Israel.
