3. What Does Pledging to the Run Mean, Exactly?
By committing to this event, and pledging to raise money for its success, you are helping to raise invaluable funds to support and enhance the recruiting, training, and supervision of CASA volunteers which provide court advocacy for each child in foster care in Jefferson County, Texas, as well as benefiting other CASA programs which improve the quality of life for infants, children, teens, and those with special needs who are in foster care.

Core activities of CASA volunteer advocates include meeting with the child regularly to build a relationship and assess his or her needs;  communicating with the parents, foster parents, service providers, caseworkers, attorneys, and the parties on the case; gathering information about the case; assisting in the family-finding process to identify relatives or other natural supports for the child; monitoring the service needs of the child and facilitating the provision of appropriate services; locating and monitoring placements; and making recommendations to the judge that reflect the child’s best interest.

CASA volunteer advocates speak for the child’s best interest in court, as well as ensuring that each child is in a safe foster home, and is receiving the educational, medical, dental, psychiatric and psychological  services they need.  CASA volunteer advocates also research the children’s family and others in order to find the child a safe, loving, permanent home.

We wish you all the success possible. Train, set and achieve new goals, enjoy the race, and get all the donors you can, so when you cross that finish line, we will all be winners – you, and all the children in foster care in Jefferson County that need our help!

4. How can my sponsors submit payment?
Online contributions can be made by credit card on the runner’s personalized page found on this website. Just make sure to tell your donors to select your name from the list of runners.

5. I am concerned that I might not be able to raise the required funds. Will I be able to do it?
Even if you've never raised money before, our materials and strategies will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others. Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but enjoyable, to set and reach your goals. Please refer to the sample letters found on your personal fundraising page center, that explains the programs the Run supports, and you will be surprised to see how quickly friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your request to help this wonderful cause. Just remember to make it personal as well, as you want them to know that they are sponsoring YOU and YOUR efforts! And, as many companies offer charitable donation matching programs, make sure to ask your sponsors to check with their employers, as it will help you meet your goal ever more quickly.

It only takes 10 friends supporting you at $10 to meet your $100 fundraising goal to get a Santa suit!

6. Is the Run only for Runners?
Not at all!  It's a fun run to allow for participants to walk or run at their own pace. We also anticipate participants of all ages.

In addition to the Run/Walk, the Santa Run will be a fun event for the whole family. Come join us for coffee and hot chocolate, children’s activities, and Christmas goodies in a festive atmosphere with Christmas music and fun galore.

7. Do You Run Alone or as a Team?
Either! Participants can run/walk alone or create their own team to run/walk the Santa Fun Run route on a relatively flat course.

8. I have never run a race. Will I be able to finish the Santa 5K Fun Run?
Absolutely! Many of our participants are first-timer runners, and we will be here to inspire you every step of the way.
Our goal is for the community to participate in a family-friendly event that will allow you to spend meaningful time together with family and friends while raising money for an important, worthy cause, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Southeast Texas.

9. Is there a refund/exchange policy?
No.  Because there is no registration fee, there is no refund or exchange policy.
