January 26, 2017. A day my family and I will never forget. On January 26, 2017 I lost my husband, my best friend, the father of my son in a tragic car accident. Overnight I became both a widow and a single mother at 29 years old. Not knowing what to do, where to turn, or even how to breath, I was introduced to Stephy's Place.

 

Stephy's Place became my sanctuary. It became a place I felt safe, where I could go to process what had happened to me. It became a place where I could sit and cry for an hour if I needed to without explaining anything or feeling judged. Because of Stephy's Place, I have met amazing people who have helped guide me along this grief journey. I have made friends that I can truly say have become family and that I don't know where I would be without them. I have Stephy's Place to thank for getting me to the point where I am today.

 

With that being said, I am so excited to be participating in the "A Mourning Walk". Money raised from this event will be used to provide free peer support groups for those suffering the loss of a loved one. People who are suffering through situations like mine, need to know there are places like Stephy's Place, where they can go for help and to know that they are not alone.
