2. How long is a 5k and how will I know when I am done?
A 5k is 3.1 miles. You can complete the 3.1 miles however you would like. Running, walking, and hiking are all good options. If you need help tracking your distance, consider downloading a free GPS enabled app to track your progress. Some commonly used apps include Strava, Runkeeper, and Polar Beat. Remember you can also break it up.  Do a mile a day or even 1/2 a mile a day.  Do what works for you!

3. What if I can’t run a 5K?
That is ok! The great part of a virtual 5K is you can do it in your time and in your terms. You don’t have to run at all.You can walk outside, walk on a treadmill, or go for a hike. You also don’t have to do it in one day! You can break it up over a few days. You have 11 days to complete the 5K so do whatever works for you!!

This is based completely on the honor system. You do not have to record your time or submit your running or walking route.Don’t forget to take some pictures though! We are collecting pictures (this is optional) and will have them posted on our website. We will also be announcing winners of different picture category competitions.

7. Will I be able to get people to sponsor me?
Even if you've never raised money before, our materials and strategies will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others. Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but enjoyable, to set and reach your goals. Please refer to the sample letters found on your personal fundraising page center, that explains the programs the Run supports, and you will be surprised to see how quickly friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your request to help this wonderful cause. Just remember to make it personal as well, as you want them to know that they are sponsoring YOU and YOUR efforts! And, as many companies offer charitable donation matching programs, make sure to ask your sponsors to check with their employers, as it will help you meet your goal ever more quickly.
