The J's Indoor Triathlon & Biathlon and Kids Tri

The event is open to members & non-members.
 

1. How do I begin?
Just register here and join us!

  • For Individuals: $30 before November 10th;  $45 until February 7.
  • For a Biathlon Team: $50 before November 10th; $70 until February 7.
  • For a Triathlon Team: $75 before November 10th; $105 until February 7.
Kids Tri:
  • For Individuals: $20 before November 10th; $35 until February 7.
  • For Team: $60 before November 10th; $75 until February 7.

2. What are the Indoor Triathlon & Biathlon options?
Note: There are 12 people per heat; 2 swimmers per lane (if applicable)
  • Biathlon: First heat goes off at 11:30 a.m.
    • 20 minute bike
    • 7 minute transition
    • 20 minute run (indoor track)
  • Triathlon: Heats go off every 25 minutes from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
    • 15 minute swim
    • 10 minute transition
    • 20 minute bike
    • 7 minute transition
    • 20 minute run (indoor track)
3. What is the Kids Tri? 
 
This exciting component is for kids ages 7-13. The Kids Tri will include running, rowing machines, and a strength challenge.
Heats will go off between 12 p.m.- 4 p.m. 
  • 5 minute run
  • 3 minute transition
  • 5 minute row
  • 3 minute transition
  • 5 minute strength challenge
There will be 10 kids per heat. The heats will be divided by ages 7-8, 9-10, and 11-13.
4. Who can participate?
 
Open to members AND non-members! 
 
Our Biathlon & Triathlon and Kids Tri are perfect for the casual or serious athlete. Adults & children 10 & up who wish to participate in the Triathlon & Biathlon Please note: because of the height of our spinning bikes, it is strongly recommended participants have a minimum height of 4' 10".
 
5. What is a 'Relay Team'?
 
A Biathlon relay team is 2 athletes. One person will bike, the other person will run.
A Triathlon relay team is 3 athletes. One person will swim, another teammate will bike, and the third teammate will run. Alternatively, two people can be a triathlon team with one member handling two of the events, and the second team member participating in one.
 
 
6. What does the Mandel JCC provide the day of the event?
 
We provide an official event shirt, towels, lockers (with built-in locks), water, sports drinks, and refreshments. 
 

7. When will I know what time I compete?
 
Heat sheets are created 2 days before the event. You will receive an email from The J with this information. Please review the heat sheets and make sure you are in the correct event and your name is spelled correctly.
Heat sheets will also be posted on the event website as well as www.mandeljcc.org/triathlon and in the gym and locker rooms on day of.
 
 
8. Who gets an award?
 
The day of the event, the categories for fundraising will receive prizes:
1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Individual Fundraisers:
Top Fundraising TEAM:
 
Athlete awards are mailed within two weeks, post-event. Medals will be awarded to:
1. The 1st and 2nd place Triathlon and Biathlon performers for both male & female in each age bracket (as it applies):
  • 14 & under
  • 15-19
  • 20-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60-69
  • 70-79
  • 80+
2. Top Overall Biathlon Female
3. Top Overall Biathlon Male
4. Top Biathlon Relay Team
5. Top Triathlon Relay Team
 
 
Top Overall Triathlon Female & Top Overall Triathlon Male will receive official event plaques.
 
Kids Tri - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive a plaque and each participant will receive finisher medals

9. What does the Indoor Triathlon & Biathlon and Kids Tri support?

The Indoor Triathlon & Biathlon and Kids Tri is a fundraiser to support the Financial Assistance Program of the Mandel JCC. Your participation will be instrumental in helping us provide:

  • Financial assistance for programs for children, teens, and adults with special needs
  • Over $425,000 in scholarship support for membership, J Day camp, Camp Wise overnight camp, and Playmakers Youth Theatre
  • Senior adults with hot lunches and social activities six days per week
 
10. How can my personal sponsors submit payment?

**Please ask your sponsors to write your name on the check. this ensures it is applied to your total fundraising goal.
 
 
11. What if I don’t raise enough money?

No matter what, once you have paid the registration fee, you are still considered a participant.
If you've never raised money before, our materials and strategies will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors. Once you register, we will send you all the info you need to get started. You can also use our sample letters to send to friends and family members asking them to support your fundraising efforts by logging into your personal fundraising center. Just remember to make your request personal, as you want them to know that they are sponsoring YOU and YOUR efforts!
 

12. Is there a refund policy?

Registration fees and donations are non-refundable.

 
13. Is parking available?

Parking is available free of charge at the Mandel JCC. We ask athletes to show up an hour before their heat to ensure ample time to park and prepare.

 

14. Is Kid Kare provided while I compete?

Due to lack of use in prior years, we will not have free Kid Kare this year for athletes competing. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
